FIREFIGHTERS' CLOTHES

In the 20th century, firefighters wore specific uniforms, but they were considerably different from the ones we are all familiar with today. The uniform consisted of a canvas jacket and trousers, often with long boots, a metal helmet, a belt around the waist holding small tools, and a gas mask worn over the shoulder.
