Evacuation & Escape Signs

COMMON SIGNS

To prevent fires in the modern world, we also need to abide by certain rules. However, because there are now a lot more of them, there is also a higher chance of fires. For instance, we must understand the meaning of some signs and take the appropriate action to be safe, defend ourselves from fires, or know what to do in the event of a fire.

The common signs we should be aware of are:

  1. A sign denoting the prohibition of open flames.

  3. A sign indicating the potential for an explosive atmosphere indoors
  4. A sign denoting a highly flammable or extremely flammable (F; F+) material. This refers to a product easily ignited, highly or extremely flammable, and prone to explosion if ignited.
  5. A sign indicating an oxidizing (O) material. The product may explode or ignite if used improperly or in contact with other materials.
  6. A sign denoting an explosive (E) substance. This substance may explode due to impact, friction, fire, or other sources of ignition.
